Thoughts

"When my daughter was about 7 years old, she asked me one day what I did at work. I told her I worked at the college-that my job was to teach people how to draw. She stared ate me, incredulous, and said, you mean they forgot?"

-Howard Ikemoto

I came to Tucson, Arizona(from Colorado) in 1974 to get an mfa in printmaking at the University of Arizona. After accomplishing this I began to focus more on painting and drawing.

I pretty much paint what I see and hear. I start with an idea, an image and begin tweaking it. Sometimes it happens fast but usually I enjoy the process and it can go on for quite awhile. Everyday as a kind of everydaydream.

The paintings are a hybrid of many things. Surreal, folk, childrens', cave, conceptual, abstract, realism, naturalism, and so on. I do like them to be respectfully skeptical.
